Wiley’s Wish has a mission for second chances. We take this to another level with our prison training program. Dogs that are rescued and given a second chance at having a family and a home go through training that is overseen by our trainer Samantha Brinegar. Samantha runs the trainer program inside some of California’s prisons. She trains inmates that qualify to be part of the program and they train the dogs. During this time, they work on their AA in Canine Behaviors under Samantha’s credentials and alongside University of Denver. The dogs go through AKC Canine Good Citizens course. During the evaluation time if a dog shows promise to advance into service dog training the dog will advance into that class. Upon completion of dog training the dog will be paired with a veteran or first responder. Our program offers a second chance for the dogs but also for the inmates.
All dogs that graduate with CGC qualification skills are available for adoption from anyone. All service dog trained dogs will be eligible for a veteran or first responder. (Families are considered veteran or first responder. There is always room for special cases).
If you are interested in a dog that is in one of our training programs please put in the application, we will get back to you in regard to their status of and progress. If you have any questions, please reach out to our trainer directly at [email protected]
